Missing Relatives & Dinner-Movie Nights
Sunday, May 24, 2009
Well, it is now 2 days since my uncle and grandparents called and said they were on their way down and they haven't made it yet. It is a 3.5 hour drive, maybe 4 on a bad day, so they definitely should have been here by now. I've called other relatives that might have heard from them and nope, not a word. I've called my grandparents house at least 100 times and no answer from them either. My dad and I have discussed the 2 most likely scenarios.
1) They are broken down stranded on the side of the road, somewhere between middle and east TN.
2) They decided not to come and haven't bothered to tell anyone else about their plans and are just not answering the phone.
We're all going with scenario number 2 at the moment. Apparently spontaneous plan making and plan canceling has ran in our family for years. I've just never been the brunt of it before. I was a little worried about them (still am) but there is nothing I can do from here. So, I'm just hoping someone hears from them sometime in the near future.
On a more fun note, mom has been here since Fri. evening and we've had a good time just being out of the house. We've been to 2 movies (Angels and Demons & Night at The Museum) and have been out to eat 3 times too! Cheesecake Factory, Olive Garden, & Marche Artisan Foods were the winners in the restaurant category. We've also gotten plenty of sleep (well, everyone except mom). Apparently Marin has shown his true colors and stayed up all night for her too. We've got pics from this weekend that I'll have Matthew post on Marin's blog later.
I was so pleased with mom coming down that I didn't know what to do with myself. Not only did she stay up with Marin all night and watch him so Matthew and me could go out, but she also did laundry! I had started some clothes before we left and when we got back all the clothes were folded and she'd even started some more laundry that Marin messed up while we were gone. She fed Lexi and let her out to the bathroom too! She bought me lunch (went out and picked it up and brought it back) and some snacks at Kroger. You can't beat that! I told her she was welcome back anytime! :) She's taking us up on the come back anytime offer and coming back for a few days next month! Whoo hoo! In the meantime, if any other friends or relatives are interested in spending time with a cute little snuggle bug so Matthew and I can have some peace and quiet for a few hours, we have some openings! :)
