Nashville "Blues" Baby? I Hope Not!
Wednesday, January 21, 2009
Well, I am sure this post will make the day of my buddy Kim! Matthew and I skipped baby class Mon. night to hit up the Nashville Predators game. Before the game, we had dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory downtown. It was yummy, as usual. Matthew always gets his chicken parmesan and I my spaghetti with browned butter and mizithra cheese. Tasty!
The dinner itself was fun, but even more fun was chatting up our nearby table mates. As I am coming back to the table (from where else but the bathroom), Matthew informs me that we are in the presence of St. Louis Blues fans. What?! Where?! Apparently, I had missed the introductions but each had noticed the other because Matthew was decked out in his Predators finery, complete with winter hat, sweatshirt, and jersey and our nearby table mate was wearing a Blues sweatshirts.
We had a nice chit chat about the Preds/Blues rivalry and we even learned that the father/daughter duo were in town to catch a Preds game that night! Shhhh, I won't tell anyone you were surveying the enemy. :) I even learned a thing or two about the Blues. Most interesting was that I had been butchering Tkachuk's name. I am pleased to report that I now know the "T" is silent. :) I also expressed my sincere sadness that St. Louis had "stolen" my goalie, Chris Mason.
It was all fun and games until I mentioned my buddy Kim and our game wagers. Apparently they thought it was HILARIOUS that I have had to write 2 blog posts singing the praises of St. Louis this year. They really liked that idea. The dad even adds salt to the wound by saying, "Yeah, at least we can still beat you guys!" I slid lower in my chair on that remark....I even fessed up that if St. Louis sweeps Nashville for the entire season that I have to deck my poor son-to-be out in a Blues onesie and post it online.
Well, that was the final straw! They were so psyched about this arrangment and said that at the end of the season they would Google "Nashville Blues Baby" and would be sure to find that photo online! We will see folks, we will see! So, to all you Blues fans out there, go ahead and BRING IT come Feb. 12th! I'll be there in person to witness our comeback at the Sommet Center! And, that is pronounced So-May, not Summit, in case you were wondering. :)
